When you need a filling
A cavity is a small hole in your tooth caused by decay. Left alone, it gets bigger and can reach the nerve. A filling stops it in its tracks.
Signs to watch for
- Sensitivity to sweets, hot or cold
- A dark spot or hole you can see or feel
- Food that keeps getting stuck in one place
- A twinge when you bite down
How it works
We numb the area, clean out the decay, and fill the space with a tooth-colored material shaped to fit your bite. Most fillings take under an hour, and you can eat normally once the numbness wears off.
