What the video covers
- Here's what to expect when you get a dental implant.
- When a tooth is missing, an implant replaces both the root and the visible tooth, so it looks, feels, and works like a natural one.
- First, we'll numb the area so you stay comfortable. You may feel some pressure, but you shouldn't feel any pain.
- Then a small titanium post is placed in the jawbone, right where the old root used to be.
- Over the next few months, the bone grows around the post and locks it firmly in place.
- Once it's healed, a small connector called an abutment is attached to the post. This is what will hold your new tooth.
- Finally, a custom crown, made to match your other teeth, is attached to the abutment.
- From there, care for it just like your own teeth. Brush twice a day, floss around the implant, and keep up with your regular checkups to keep your gums healthy.
- If you have any questions along the way, just ask. Your dental team is always happy to help.
